Upcycled Military Uniform Overnight Bag

My friend gave me a bunch of her old BDU's, so i decided i would make something out of them, i made a gun case, now i tackled a bag.

The finished product

Using a shirt, cut out the back piece, the arms, and the front two pieces, measured and made sure i could put the pieces together to form two pieces of fabric, a front and a back.  i also used the bottom seam of the shirt as the top seam of my bag so i didnt have worry about the seam.  i also cut out all the pockets and found spaces for them and sewed them onto the front and back pieces.

after all that, i sewed the front and back together.

this is going to be the back of the bag, with one pocket

the front, with three pockets

i used a pair of Dickies pants to make the lining.  i used the legs as front and back.

i noticed there was this little double layer on the Dickies pants, so i decided to make a pocket out of it

then sewed the zipper to the lining

sewed the zipper to the bag

these buttons were on the bottom of the shirt, so i used them to create an unique detail to the bag

i cut out the button and button holes part of the shirt, made them into straps for the bag

then sewed the straps onto the bag

there u have it, the front of the bag.  notice the straps? yup, u can actually button up the straps together, hahaha
